Practical travel guide
Abando and Bilbao Intermodal are different places
Bilbao-Abando is a railway station, while Bilbao Intermodal identifies the bus station. Check your ticket before requesting a taxi and distinguish these locations in the pickup address. If you arrive by train but continue by coach, the transfer must connect two actual places rather than a presumed common exit. Share the agreed location with companions meeting you. When carrying bags, first check where you should wait so that the generic word “station” does not send you towards another building or a different transport entrance.
The Guggenheim and the end of your visit
Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a different sightseeing destination from the Casco Viejo. If your walk combines both areas, use the place where you actually finish as your return origin. For a museum visit, confirm the visitor entrance and separately agree on an outdoor taxi meeting point. Do not use the museum name as the address of nearby accommodation or a restaurant without adding the street. If some travellers continue walking while others leave the exhibition, decide where everyone will gather before requesting a shared pickup.
Specify airport, ferry or cruise arrival
Bilbao Airport uses code BIO. A sea arrival needs different information: the tourism references distinguish ferries at Santurtzi and cruises at Getxo. Writing only “Port of Bilbao” without the operator or terminal can therefore leave the pickup location unresolved. Check your travel document and confirm the current access with the operator. The Guggenheim, Abando and the airport do not replace that port information. If your itinerary combines a ship and a flight, describe the road transfer and separately arrange the tickets and procedures for both means of transport.
Prepare your pickup
Enter the street, building number and accommodation name when it helps identify the entrance. If arriving by train or plane, prepare the journey reference and keep your phone reachable. Check the summary before sending your request and then follow the confirmation instructions. Sending a request is not yet confirmation of a driver, and a general address does not replace an agreed meeting point.
Luggage, children and individual requirements
Count passengers, suitcases and bulky items separately. A group carrying several bags may need a different vehicle from two people with hand luggage. Mention children, pushchairs or accessibility requirements in advance. Do not assume that a child seat or suitable vehicle is available: wait for the necessary features to be confirmed before relying on the transfer.
Journey price and travel time
The journey price depends on the applicable taxi rules, route and any supplements. Do not read a journey-time estimate as a guaranteed price, or confuse the fare with the platform service. Pay the fare directly to the driver. Leave a margin before a flight, train or event: road traffic, luggage and access arrangements can all affect the overall time.
Taxi questions
How do I book a taxi in Bilbao?
Complete the form with full pickup and destination addresses, time, passengers and a reachable phone number. In Bilbao, use the street and building number rather than just a neighbourhood. Check the summary and follow the confirmation you receive.
Which station should I enter in Bilbao?
This guide covers Bilbao-Abando station. Check your ticket and enter the exact station name and agreed exit. A pre-booked meeting point may differ from the public taxi rank.
How do I arrange an airport taxi?
For Bilbao, check the correct airport: Bilbao Airport (BIO). Prepare the flight, terminal and luggage details. Allow for leaving arrivals or checking in, and avoid confusing different airports when entering your destination.
Can the taxi stop outside my accommodation?
That depends on road access and street restrictions. Provide the full address and ask your accommodation which entrance to use. If the entrance is pedestrian-only, agree on a permitted meeting point and separately arrange any walking or luggage assistance you need between that point and the accommodation.
Can I travel with luggage or children?
Mention passenger numbers, luggage size and quantity, and any children’s requirements. Child seats, extra space or accessibility need specific confirmation; do not assume they are automatically included.
How much does a taxi in Bilbao cost?
There is no single fare for every journey in Bilbao. Taxi fare rules apply, including any conditions for predetermined routes where relevant. Confirm the ride conditions with the driver and request a receipt.
Does sending a request immediately guarantee a driver?
No. Sending the form starts a request. Availability and pickup still need confirmation. Before going to a meeting point, check the instructions received and your journey details.
