Practical travel guide
Atocha and Chamartín are different arrivals
Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes and Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor are separate railway stations. Copy the full name shown on your ticket when preparing your pickup. If someone else arranges the taxi, send them that name too: saying that you are arriving in Madrid does not identify the correct station. Once outside, compare the instructions received with the signs and agree on a road-accessible meeting point. If your next train leaves from the other station, request that transfer explicitly and provide the connection details, allowing for leaving your first train.
Meeting your taxi after visiting the Prado
The Prado Museum stands on Paseo del Prado within the cultural area known as the Paseo del Arte. The entrance used for a museum visit and the place where a taxi can meet you require separate instructions. Keep your visitor entrance information and agree on an outdoor road pickup point. If you continue walking around the area after your visit, update the address before the return journey. Do not leave the museum as your starting point if you have since collected luggage at your accommodation or finished your walk on another street.
Madrid-Barajas and your journey back
For air travel, identify Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas using the code MAD and check your flight terminal. The airport, Atocha, Chamartín and the Prado are different destinations when completing a request. If you need to collect bags from your hotel between the museum and the airport, include that stop at the outset so the proposed route is clear. On arrival, follow the confirmed meeting instructions before heading to an outdoor area. Knowing the flight terminal is useful, but it does not by itself establish the agreed pickup point.
Prepare your pickup
Enter the street, building number and accommodation name when it helps identify the entrance. If arriving by train or plane, prepare the journey reference and keep your phone reachable. Check the summary before sending your request and then follow the confirmation instructions. Sending a request is not yet confirmation of a driver, and a general address does not replace an agreed meeting point.
Luggage, children and individual requirements
Count passengers, suitcases and bulky items separately. A group carrying several bags may need a different vehicle from two people with hand luggage. Mention children, pushchairs or accessibility requirements in advance. Do not assume that a child seat or suitable vehicle is available: wait for the necessary features to be confirmed before relying on the transfer.
Journey price and travel time
The journey price depends on the applicable taxi rules, route and any supplements. Do not read a journey-time estimate as a guaranteed price, or confuse the fare with the platform service. Pay the fare directly to the driver. Leave a margin before a flight, train or event: road traffic, luggage and access arrangements can all affect the overall time.
Taxi questions
How do I book a taxi in Madrid?
Complete the form with full pickup and destination addresses, time, passengers and a reachable phone number. In Madrid, use the street and building number rather than just a neighbourhood. Check the summary and follow the confirmation you receive.
Which station should I enter in Madrid?
This guide covers Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes station, Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station. Check your ticket and enter the exact station name and agreed exit. A pre-booked meeting point may differ from the public taxi rank.
How do I arrange an airport taxi?
For Madrid, check the correct airport: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). Prepare the flight, terminal and luggage details. Allow for leaving arrivals or checking in, and avoid confusing different airports when entering your destination.
Can the taxi stop outside my accommodation?
That depends on road access and street restrictions. Provide the full address and ask your accommodation which entrance to use. If the entrance is pedestrian-only, agree on a permitted meeting point and separately arrange any walking or luggage assistance you need between that point and the accommodation.
Can I travel with luggage or children?
Mention passenger numbers, luggage size and quantity, and any children’s requirements. Child seats, extra space or accessibility need specific confirmation; do not assume they are automatically included.
How much does a taxi in Madrid cost?
There is no single fare for every journey in Madrid. Taxi fare rules apply, including any conditions for predetermined routes where relevant. Confirm the ride conditions with the driver and request a receipt.
Does sending a request immediately guarantee a driver?
No. Sending the form starts a request. Availability and pickup still need confirmation. Before going to a meeting point, check the instructions received and your journey details.
