Practical travel guide
The interchange serves buses and trams
The Santa Cruz interchange brings together buses, locally called guaguas, and the tram network. Tram line 1 connects Santa Cruz with La Laguna; it should not be treated as a long-distance railway or a train arrival at the airport. When arranging a taxi, specify the transport you arrive on and the exit you will actually use. A tram-stop reference does not automatically identify the bus access. Confirm an outdoor point that a vehicle can reach, and make sure the group gathers there before continuing to your accommodation.
Plaza de España does not identify a port terminal
Plaza de España is a central landmark near the waterfront, but its name does not identify the terminal used by your ship. If you are arriving by ferry or cruise, ask the operator for the vessel, terminal and authorised exit before requesting pickup. The port may appear as one location in a search even though the right access depends on your journey. If you later walk to the square, update the taxi’s starting point for your return. The road transfer and the tickets or procedures for the sea journey need separate arrangements.
Check TFN or TFS before requesting the airport
Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna uses airport code TFN, while Tenerife Sur uses TFS. These are different airports: entering only Tenerife does not select the correct destination. Check the code on your flight reservation and share it with the person arranging the taxi. From the port or Plaza de España, also specify where you will actually wait and whether you need to collect bags from a hotel first. The request concerns a road journey on the island; travel to another island requires separate arrangements for the relevant flight or sea crossing.
Prepare your pickup
Enter the street, building number and accommodation name when it helps identify the entrance. If arriving by bus, tram, ship or plane, prepare the journey reference and keep your phone reachable. Check the summary before sending your request and then follow the confirmation instructions. Sending a request is not yet confirmation of a driver, and a general address does not replace an agreed meeting point.
Luggage, children and individual requirements
Count passengers, suitcases and bulky items separately. A group carrying several bags may need a different vehicle from two people with hand luggage. Mention children, pushchairs or accessibility requirements in advance. Do not assume that a child seat or suitable vehicle is available: wait for the necessary features to be confirmed before relying on the transfer.
Journey price and travel time
The journey price depends on the applicable taxi rules, route and any supplements. Do not read a journey-time estimate as a guaranteed price, or confuse the fare with the platform service. Pay the fare directly to the driver. Leave a margin before a flight, ship departure or event: road traffic, luggage and access arrangements can all affect the overall time.
Taxi questions
How do I book a taxi in Santa Cruz de Tenerife?
Complete the form with full pickup and destination addresses, time, passengers and a reachable phone number. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, use the street and building number rather than just a neighbourhood. Check the summary and follow the confirmation you receive.
Where should I request pickup after a bus or tram?
The Santa Cruz interchange serves buses and trams, not long-distance trains. Specify your arrival mode and agreed exit. Check the confirmed outdoor meeting point before moving with your luggage. A tram platform is not automatically the taxi pickup point.
How do I arrange an airport taxi?
For Santa Cruz de Tenerife, check the correct airport: Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport (TFN), Tenerife Sur Airport (TFS). Prepare the flight, terminal and luggage details. Allow for leaving arrivals or checking in, and avoid confusing different airports when entering your destination.
Can the taxi stop outside my accommodation?
That depends on road access and street restrictions. Provide the full address and ask your accommodation which entrance to use. If the entrance is pedestrian-only, agree on a permitted meeting point and separately arrange any walking or luggage assistance you need between that point and the accommodation.
Can I travel with luggage or children?
Mention passenger numbers, luggage size and quantity, and any children’s requirements. Child seats, extra space or accessibility need specific confirmation; do not assume they are automatically included.
How much does a taxi in Santa Cruz de Tenerife cost?
There is no single fare for every journey in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Taxi fare rules apply, including any conditions for predetermined routes where relevant. Confirm the ride conditions with the driver and request a receipt.
Does sending a request immediately guarantee a driver?
No. Sending the form starts a request. Availability and pickup still need confirmation. Before going to a meeting point, check the instructions received and your journey details.
